Le PCRDT et les TIC. Acquis et perspectives du 7° programme cadre

Quels sont les acquis concernant les technologies de l’information et de la communication (TIC) dans le 6e programme-cadre de recherche et de développement technologique ? Comment mieux anticiper les perspectives en la matière dans le 7e PCRDT? Répondre à cette double interrogation d’évaluation et de prospective suppose, dans un premier temps, de rappeler la finalité originelle des programmes de recherche communautaires, puis d’examiner quantitativement les acquis en matière de TIC, de les illustrer ensuite qualitativement par quelques exemples, pour tenter de montrer la rationalité des choix opérés, avant d’aborder les défis du 7e PCRDT.

The FPRTD: Accomplishments in the field of information and communication technology, and prospects for the 7th Framework Program

What accomplishments has the EU’s 6th Framework Program for Research and Technological Development (FPRTD) had in the field of information and communication technology ? How to help the 7th Framework Program more clearly foresee prospects in this field ? Answering these two questions involves assessing the past and making forecasts. After recalling the original purposes of EU research programs, accomplishments in info-tech are quantitatively examined. A qualitative illustration is provided with the help of a few examples so as to show the rationality of the choices made. Finally, the challenges facing the 7th FPRDT are taken under consideration.
